Hello everyone!
Our family has a favorite saying.... It is - “This is why....”
The original story goes as such:
Years ago, my sister and her family lived across the farm yard from my mom and dad. Almost every day they would walk across their yard, through the garden and to grandma’s and grandpa’s place for coffee and a visit.
One day my niece, Candace, who was about 5 years old at the time, and her dad went to grandma and grandpas house for a visit.
When they got there, her dad, Craig, knelt down in the porch to take her shoes off. As he was doing that, he looked up and asked her, “Candace, why do you always have dirt in your shoes?!” Candace looked down at her shoes but didn’t say anything. So they had their visit and went on with the day.
Two weeks later, as Candace and her dad were walking across the garden for another visit, out of the blue, Candace says, “This is why...”
Craig inquired, “What do you mean, this is why?”
Candace says, “This is why I always have dirt in my shoes...”
We all have ‘this is why’ moments. Where we ask, I wonder why or how that happened and then, later, in a moment of 'revelation' the answer comes.
These moments can be positive and amazing, or regretful and sad or just plain funny, as in with Candace.
It can be, 'Why do I sense to go this way, why do I feel God directing me here, when it doesn’t make sense (to my natural mind)?'
And sometimes we don’t know immediately why, but as we trust the Holy Spirit's leading, there are ‘this is why’ moments. He wants to show us things and give us His revelation. (Ephesians 1:17)
We may not always know everything, but God has very clear answers in His word for us about direction (Proverbs 4:18) about sowing and reaping (Galatians 6:7) about walking in the blessing of God and not in the curse. (See Deuteronomy 28)
Sometimes I wonder why I have lived in different places, but I met my husband when I moved to the one place where I felt to go – ‘this is why!’
When I picked up a guitar when I was really young and then leading worship years later, I realized - "this is why!"
When we follow God's word with our lives and see the peace and blessing follow - "This is why!"
Maybe you are thinking of some negative "This is why" moments in your life.
Perhaps we have all had times when we have made decisions not the best and realize, I shouldn't have made that choice, I knew better. Or maybe we said some hurtful words which had a painful outcome.
But thank God for His grace, forgiveness and redeeming power.
We just bring those things to Him and receive forgiveness and cleansing and He will help set them right. (I John 1:9) There's no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
I hope and pray your next "this is why" moments are fulfilling, fun and because you are walking close to the Lord. Be encouraged on your Adventure!
The One Who has all the answers is on our side! (Romans 8:31)
As we ‘trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding, but acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will direct our paths.” Proverbs 3:5,6
P.S. The biggest and best 'This is Why" is contained in the following verse:
I John 3:8, "...for this reason the Son of God was manifest, to destroy the works of the devil."
'This is why` Jesus was manifest, to destroy the works of the devil!
That's a huge This is Why! Jesus broke the power of the enemy over your life and over my life, to set us free. He loves you so much!
If you've never asked Jesus into your life and been born again, pray this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for Your great love for me. I ask You to forgive me of sin and I receive Your forgiveness. I believe Jesus You are Lord and You died for me and rose from the dead. I ask You to come into My heart and be my Lord and my Saviour. Thank You that I am now born again!
In Jesus Name. Amen
